McKinsey & Company in Seoul announced on Monday the appointment of Roland Villinger as head of the global consulting company's Korean unit.

Villinger previously served as office manager of its Bangkok operations. He has also been leader of McKinsey's Asia-Pacific Operations Practice for the past three years.

McKinsey's new Korea head received a doctorate in International Management from the University of Cambridge. He joined the consulting group in 1991 and has since then served corporate clients worldwide with a focus on industrial companies, and various service sectors, including banking, wholesale, retail, and information technologies. Other experience includes leading projects on national and regional competitiveness and trade issues across Asia.

Villinger is replacing Stephen Bear, who has moved back to his home office in Toronto to serve as a director for the North America region.
