KPMG has been recognized by Media Corp as one of the 'Top 20 Best Employers for New Canadians' for 2008. KPMG shares this honour with nineteen other employers from across Canada and is proud to lead their peers in creating a workplace that welcomes new Canadians, respects and celebrates diverse backgrounds, and provides opportunity to make the most of their skills, education and individual talents.

"We are pleased to be recognized for the work we have done to help our KPMG employees who are also new Canadians," says Mario Paron, Chief HR Officer. "By working to ensure an easier transition for new Canadians, the firm continues to make strides in creating an inclusive workplace for all of our people."

Launched in 2007, the Best Employers for New Canadians competition recognizes the nation's best employers for recent immigrants. Each employer was evaluated on the types of programs they offer new employees who are recent immigrants to Canada, and on the work they've done to reduce employment barriers.

Some of these programs here at KPMG are as follows:

The International Club
A firm-wide network that helps connect new international hires with others from a country of the same origin. The purpose of this network is to help new Canadians feel comfortable in a new country and become familiar with Canadian culture.

Diversity in the Workplace Program
KPMG's Web-based training for all employees is designed to help further the understanding of diversity for everyone in the firm and explain why an inclusive work environment is so important for KPMG people, clients and the market.

Mentoring Partnership with TRIEC
In keeping with our commitment to support the creation of a diverse workforce, KPMG supports The Mentoring Partnership program of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) to help skilled immigrants in Toronto get established and find appropriate work. We now have over 50 active mentors, and are the 4th largest corporate partner.
